As more and more people purchase laptop computers with built in wireless cards the demand for Wi-Fi internet access is growing. To meet this demand and attract new customers many businesses are deploying Wi-Fi hotspots on site. For libraries, especially smaller libraries with fewer computers a wireless network could be a cost effective way of providing internet access to their patrons without the burden of purchasing new expensive computers. It would allow their patrons to access the internet using their own computers in the safe and friendly atmosphere of their local library. From Pok. Journal and Associated Press May 29 2008 ALBANY - A Web site is now available for consumers seeking restitution from Dell Inc. after a New York judge found the computer retailer engaged in false and deceptive advertising of its promotional credit financing and warranties. The judge is ordering the computer retailer to more clearly disclose that most customers don't qualify for free financing or "next day" repair service. Customers may apply for restitution through a Web site announced by New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who pressed the case. The site is at www.nyagdell.com. Cuomo is collecting complaints to help the court determine how much restitution Dell and Dell Financial Services owe customers. He says the court will determine restitution this year. |

By Martin Coleman Good passwords are hard to come by. If you suddenly and without much warning had to pick a password to access your computer, or your favorite website, or your internet banking facility, what would you do? Most people would make their password their name, their partner's name, their birthday, their partner's birthday, their favorite color or book or movie or character. You can probably already see a pattern forming here, can't you? Ok, now for the scary part: these are all easily guessed and your personal information is like a bank who holds all your money.. on the foot path where everyone can see it and grab it! |
